Tom Cruise is an actor that a lot of people have admired and respected over the years. Sure; he does have his detractors in regard to his personal life. But there are others out there that have been impressed what he's been able to do within his long-lasting career. Whether it'd be jumping out of planes, driving fast cars, or performing death-defying stunts, there's a reason why he's respected by his peers. But what impressed me the most is whenever he takes on the more drama

I've already sang the praises of recently overdue veterans, Christopher Nolan and Paul Thomas Anderson, by creating their respective top five lists. As I'm writing this, we're on the eve of the upcoming Fall festival season, where we'll be seeing upcoming award contenders rise and fall. But as we've seen every year, not all the narratives we build up or predict to happen will occur. Anyone remember when certain pundits thought Wicked: For Good would be the next Return of the

Before we get into our yearly award season and wait for reactions to come out of the upcoming Fall festivals, let's talk about our newly minted Oscar-winning filmmaker, Paul Thomas Anderson. The guy has slowly become one of my personal favorite directors working in Hollywood, due to his complex characters, witty humor, and unique voice on bizarre ideas. Even if he's not the type to work on a tentpole IP like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he's a filmmaker who's not afraid to

Just in time for his latest film, Disclosure Day, I figured it was time to look back at this Academy Award-winning filmmaker's work. Steven Spielberg has become an influential filmmaker for many bright storytellers, including Paul Thomas Anderson, Sean Baker, Peter Jackson, and Jordan Peele. He's certainly a talented filmmaker, even if he's made some underwhelming films in the past; one of which I've noted in the past on this site. But I'd argue his batting average has been m

As we're gearing up for the latest Cannes Film Festival to start, I figured now would be a perfect time to celebrate the upcoming event by talking about the festival. What exactly am I going to discuss? I could've jot down potential films I think people should be on the lookout for as next season's award players, or write down what I think could win the coveted Palm d'Or prize this year. Instead I think it'd be more appropriate to discuss my top five personal favorites that c

Well, that is a wrap on 2024. On a personal level, I am preparing to finish up grad school; and, while I balance working on set, writing...

After much deliberation, I have compiled my year-end list of the best movies I saw in 2021. These are by no means "the best," but rather...
